Dead Is not an option Note and Notice (Tough Questions) 12/11/14

I recently finished reading Dead is not an Option.  Dead is not an option is about a teenage girl named Daisy Giordano.   Daisy is saying good-bye to nightshade High and getting ready to go to college, but there hasn't been any acceptance letters. Daisy's other main focus is if her and her boyfriend Ryan are going be in the same college. But thats not the only thing she has on her mind. There is a Vampires vs Shifters going on at Nightshade High. Things are starting to get really intense between the Vampires and Shifters. The conflict is carrying over to the Giordano's home. Daisy's two older sisters, Poppy and Rose have boyfriends. Poppy is dating a vampire, while Rose and Daisy are dating Werewolf's. Daisy starts to investigate that involve mysterious new people in town and some people she's known from the past like her nemesis, celebrity chef/ Sorceress Circe Silvertongue.

                                    (Tough Questions)

Tough Questions for those who don't know what it is, its when your reading and the character asks himself a really difficult question.

While I was reading Daisy, asked herself "Would Nightshade survive a war between the vampire and shifters?". This question makes me think about what can happen. Since things are getting so intense wouldn't that mean that anything can happen at any moment? Meaning that if there were to be a war of Vampires and shifters, Nightshade will be totally destroyed and gone. What would happen after the vampires and shifters get into war? Will vampires and shifters finally get along after they have war? or will they keep things how they are now? Find out buy reading this amazing book! (Dead is Not and Option by:Marlene Perez) You wont believe what happens!!

Diary Of Anne Frank Character Analysis

I am currently reading Anne Frank.  So far Anne has just been writing in her diary and explaining how life is during the time of the holocaust. In her diary she writes "Dear Kitty," I found that to be really interesting because of how she mentioned "Kitty".  As I was reading more into the book , Anne was very worried about her dad that was ill. Anne's dad had high fever, cough and he didn't seem to be good. Anne's family then started to run out of food little by little. It would be a mission for them to get food because they live in an attic that their living in to stay. Anne's character is very wise. In the book on page 44-45 she says "I love them;  but only because they are Mummy and Margot. With Daddy its different. If he holds Margot up as an example, approves of what she does praises and caresses  her, then something gnaws at me inside, because I adore Daddy. He is the only one I look up to. I don't love anyone in the world but him.He doesn't notice that he treats Margot different from me. You can tell that Anne wants her dad to treat her just like she would to Margot.

Holocaust Blog

I believe that there are many reasons to why many people were bystanders at the time of the holocaust. Majority of the people figured that if it had nothing to do with them then why bother to get in to something thats not affecting them. Many people were terrified of Hitler and Nazis so they decided not to intrude. I feel like many other  people didn't stand up because they felt like if someone does it with me then i'll do it. Honestly I would've been a by-stander because how would I know that other people would stand up and do the same for me and many other people like me.? What if I do decide to stand up and nothing happens? Nothing changed and everything is the same. I would risk my life for nothing. I found it shocking how Schindler saved so many Jews. Schindler was a business man and convinced the Nazis that if they were to take the Jews from his cookware factory that he would fail. After time of him bribing the Nazis for the Jews to stay he finally convinced him. Schindler saved so many lives and he saved in in a clever way.

Summary and Plot (Dead Is not an Option)

Dead is not an Option is about a girl named Daisy Giordano and she's getting ready to leave and remember her last moments of Nightshade High. But there hasn't come any acceptance letters to any colleges yet. Daisy is very worried about where she's gonna end up for school in the fall and most importantly if she is gonna be with her boyfriend Ryan. Daisy is also dealing with way more intense situations in her life. Nightshade has Vampires versus Shifters and at any moment things can get really tense. Things are starting to rise up between Vampires and shifters that they are canceling prom. Things start to settle at Daisy place because rose (Daisy's sister) are both dating vampires, and Daisy's other sister Poppy is dating a vampire. Daisy starts to find ways to make Nightshade a better school and for Vampires and Shifters to get along , and finally be in peace. Better watch out Shifters because the Vampires are hunting for blood.

There was a part in the book when Daisy was leaving the store when she came across a puddle of blood. Daisy looked around to see if there was someone hurt, when she heard a voice that said "Daisy?". Daisy immediately turned around and saw Elise Wilder. She was a vampire her self. Daisy turned her over and saw that a chunk of her neck was off. "Who did this to you?" Daisy asked".
"I don't remember" said Elise. Daisy called the ambulance and they came in a blink of an eye. Once Elise's brother Bane found about this he would want his revenge on who ever did this. Thats when the climax begins to fall. The Vampires does the unimaginable to find out who could've done this to his sister. I felt like I couldn't stop reading the book because every chapter you read you wanted to read more because you wanted to find out what happens next.

Assesment

Article 5- DONT BUY NIKE!(http://www.dailygazette.com/news/2013/may/10/0510_SGNold/)

The argument was that by purchasing from Nike we support the oppression of factory workers over sea. Nike productions are well-founded in Indonesia. Nike pays workers a minimum of $1.25 a day. Getting $1.25 a day isn't a lot to provide for Indonesian workers. With $1.25 a day workers, cant rent a small 8 by 8 foot one-room apartment, obtain drinking water, have transportation to work , and buy two meals. Nike employees are being treated unfairly. I was upset on the fact that the Indonesian workers weren't getting paid what they deserved, I buy a lot of Nike and I was just in shock that I didn't know what the employes were going through.Nike workers can improve on this situation but as customers we can learn about where our items came from and educate our selves.  We as customers can also demand that Nike and other sweat-shops treat workers with respect and equality.

The argument in the poem is that the workers in sweatshops are like machines. They are constantly doing the same thing over and over again. In the poem it states " My self is destroyed, I become a machine" I thought that that quote really stood out to me because it's like someone with no emotion.I couldn't imagine somebody with no feelings or with no thought. I personally think that reading a poem is better for me in many situations because I can picture what happens in the poem. Otherwise reading in article is more basic. The more I read the article the better understanding I got of it. On the other hand while I read the poem over and over again I started picturing the quotes in my head. The machines are so wildly noisy in the shop that I often forget who I am. When I read that I imagine an employee working non-stop.

Strike Three Your Dead Summary

The book I'm reading is called "Strike Three Your Dead". In the book we come to two boys name Mike. The Mikes are two best friends and they are both are called Mike. Its Mike and then they call the other Mike "Other Mike". In the story they both have a close friend named  Lenny and he loves baseball and claims that "He's the worst baseball player there ever was". There was a thing about Lenny and that was a baseball announcer. Lenny was great at announcing things and a baseball announcer would fit Lenny perfect.  In school there was a contest to see who can make a video about them selves announcing at Phillies game. Who ever made the best video got to actually go to a live baseball game and be an announcer at a Phillies game. Lenny knew that this was his time to shine.

My book would fall into the category Teen Fiction and sports. What I like about this book is that it has explicit details, you can infer about certain things in the book and I absolutely love that because you feel so smart because you inferred whats gonna happen or what happened. Ive actually never fallen to the category Teen Fiction and Sports. I usually read Realistic-Fiction but this time I wanted to try something new so I decided to read Teen Fiction and Sports. When I read the book 'Strike Three Your Dead" I wonder to my self "Why haven't I read this genre before like its good". Another thing I enjoy about this book is that I play sports to and when I read books that have sports in them I understand what they mean. For example if a book said "Who's on top of the line up?" Which means who's batting first? That phrase is usually meant for baseball/softball.

Blink Once

The book I read was called "Blink Once". In the book we meet this boy named West. West is a very outgoing person. One day West and his friends went to go for a bike ride and West decided to show off and do a cool trick on his bike, when he fell and ended up being paralyzed. Throughout the book its talks about the rough times he has and the difficulties he is facing from the incident. I personally enjoyed this book because it had a lot of conflicts. One other thing I loved about the book was that every time there was a conflict in the book you would want to continue to read and read. I like this in a book because you don't ever get tired of the book because it has conflicts that keep you thinking.

The conflict in my book was that this girl named Olivia was on the other side of the room where West was staying and Olivia would listen and closely analyze what West would be doing or talking about. Another main conflict in the book would be in the beginning of the story because everything happened because of something West did which was try to act cool in front of his friends. If West were to never do that there probably wouldn't be a lot of conflicts throughout the book.
