Grimm conclusion 7th blog

Summary
I'm happy to say that I finally finished the book "The Grimm Conclusion". I was kind of happy about how the ended. I don't want to give it away but I actually enjoyed it. Unlike the other book "The Tale Dark and Grimm" where the author left the readers with a confused ending. I also liked how the other put "The end" and then you would flip the page and it was say "well maybe the end" because it gives readers like me an idea if there is going to be another book. I honestly do think that there's going to be another book because of how the book ended

Letter to author:

Adam gidwits is truly and amazing author. You make your book so interesting and it grabs readers attention. For example in the first couple pagers of the book you ask if anyone has read fairy tales and you demanded the reader to raise his/hers hand. The author then Said " I don't care if you in a library by your self or if your with you friends, just raise you hand" it's like you knew what we are going to do. In the book I felt like you were literally talking to me. I really like your books and I truly think there should be one more book.

Grimm conclusion 6th blog

Summary

I'm really close to finishing the book "The Grimm Conclusion". So far in the book Joringle makes his way to Hell to find his sister: Jorinda. This is a very important part of the book because without going to Hell he would not be able to find his sister and bring her back. On page 274 it says " The demon lead my way to the Devils house." The only reason why the demon was leading him to the Devils house was because the only way Joringle could get Jorinda out of hell is if he convincethe Devil. You might be wondering how she got to hell. Jorinda was killed in a attack and she went to hell because at one point she was a tyrant that ruled a kingdom, not to mention she was very evil and wicked. Joringle and Jorinda made a promise that they would never leave each other no matter what. Because they made that promise he went to hell to get his sister.

Character traits

Joringle: Joringle is very brave and honest.
For example on page 154 it Joringle said "I'm not scared of the dark, I'll sleep in the wood if I have too." Not to mention that the woods was filled with deadly creatures and creepy objects and for him to say that he wasn't scared was kind of brave.

Jorinda: Jorinda is a very optimistic  and mature.
In the book on page 79 the prince finally found the perfect fit for the glass shoes that actually belonged to Jorinda. She tried the glass shoe and she was very calm and mature about it.Unlike other girls who probably would have bragged about having the shoe. Jorinda always is confident of what she does. She is also like a perfectionist, every thing has to be done the right way and her way.

The Grimm Conclusion 5th blog

Summary

Im in the middle of reading The Tale Dark and Grimm and so far in the book the Prince Finally finds the girl who fit into the glass shoe. Besides the evil stepsisters who cut off there foot to make their foot fit in the shoe, they both went riding along in a beautiful white horse back to the castle. *Dont forget that the prince is an Adult and Jordina is only 13, but at this point age didn't matter. The book takes a big turning point when the stepfather is killed. In one of the chapters it talks about how the stepfather died, when I started to read the chapter and realized that It was kind of like Karma. Because the stepfather killed Joringle and blamed it on his sister he died the same way Joringle died. In the book on page 67 its says "Joringle gazed at the view and suddenly turned into human". How? Because in order for Joringle to turn back to human his stepfather had to die. This is a major part in the book because knowledge of the stepfather died the mom has more time to spend with the kids. Now that the stepfather and the two stepsisters are not included in the story The mom still doesn't spend time with her two kids. That's when Jordina and Joringle decided to leave the house because their mom wasn't paying attention to them at all.

Aha moment

In the book Joringle and Jordina come to a conclusion that they should leave the house after all the time their mom has not  paid attention and spent time with them. Jordina was already in the castle with her prince but she did not want to leave Joringle in the lonesome house by himself so after many efforts to get him out the house she finally did. This is a aha moment because they never realized that they they were being ignored until they were left all alone. They both were never taught to express their feelings, and because there mom wasn't around and because there dad was dead their stepfather always mistreated them. Therefor they were always scared to stick up for themselves. So after realizing that no one was ever going to be there for them two, they had to learn that they only had eacother. They had an Aha moment because they figured out that they actually had nobody the whole time they've been with their stepfather and their evil stepsisters. But because of this aha moment they learned to be strong and always stick together, because at the end of the day they truly only have each other.

The Grimm Conclusion (4th blog)

Summary
For my last book of the 4th quarter I decided to go with a different genre then what I usually read. The book that I am currently reading is called The Grimm Conclusion. This book is not teen fiction or realistic fiction, but instead its a Fairly Tale/ Folktale kind of book. The book is about fairytales but the author writes them as twisted ones. Basically fairytales with not a happy ending. There fairy tales with a dark side to them. For example if you ever watched Beauty and the Beast you know how Beast turn into a Beast literally. But the love they have for each other doesn't change. If it were in the "Grimm Conclusion" of course the story would be changed and would be twisted so that the readers can be more entertained by the wicked things that happen in the book. Anyway, what if there love changed? What if the Beast got so upset that he was turned into a beast that he ate Belle? What if they never got that happy ending that is supposedly in every folktale and fairytale all the time? Ive read all the Grimm books and I think that this one is the last one. The author also talks to you in the book which is pretty cool for example, the very first page of the book the author says "For example, raise your hand if you've ever heard of story called "Little Red Riding Hood". "You haven't?" "Oh,you have." "Then why aren't you raising your hand? "Go ahead and raise it ." I don't care how stupid you look, sitting in the corner of a library by yourself, or on the school bus, or in bed at night raising your hand for no apparent reason." (By the way he talks to the reader he bolds the words so that he doesn't confuse the readers.

characters:

Stepfather: In the book the stepfather is very mean and ignorant. He blamed Jordina for killing her own brother when actually it was him because he really disliked him. He then forced Jordina  to burry the bones of her brother under a tree. The stepfather is a two face to me. For example when the mom of Jordina is not working and relaxing he's very nice and generous to Jordina, but when she heads back to work he's very abusive and rude. Jordina is treated very unfairly.

Jordina: Jordina is very helpful. Jordina also cares about many people. For instance she really cared about her brother. In the book on page 8 before Joringle was murderd they both promised each other that they will go were ever each other goes and that they will never leave each other. Till one day Joringle  was murderd by his wicked step father. Ever since that tragedy Jordina has never been the same.

Ota Kte, Shanice Britton assessment

Paragraph 1:
In 1879 a boy named Ota Kte who was a member of the Lakota Sioux Indian Tribe was sent on a train with many of his same people to be sent to Pennsylvania. However, there was a White man in the U.S. Army that was watching over the kids on the train. Ota Kte believed in one thing, and that was to never trust a White man. Captain Henry Pratt who was the white man in the train with many Native Indians, believed that Native Americans should have quality education. Pratt convinced the U.S government to get rid of the Pennsylvania army barracks and turn it into a Carlisle School, which was Americas first boarding school. They then gathered up 84 children including Ota Kte and were sent east with Captain Pratt. Pratt's plan to help Native Americans receive education didn't really turn out how he said was going to happen. Instead he wanted to strip all the Native Indians from there culture. He believed that children had to forsake their "Indian-ness" to be successful in America. In the article it mentions that Ota Kte was given a whole new look. His hair was cut short, his moccasins were taken away, and his tights were taken away. In return he was given wool uniform and black leather boots. Native Americans were made to feel like they didn't exist because many Native American children were forced to give up there culture and were forced to become people who they weren't in the inside. Native Americans make a big mark in history today. Different cultures are what makes people different. No human being should have to give up there life style, and there culture to become someone they know there not.

Paragraph 2:

B: What is the purpose of Shanice Britton’s essay? What does she want the readers to know about her and Native Americans living today?

Shanice's main purpose to writing this essay is to persuade many readers that having different cultures is what makes people unique. For example, in the text it talks about how people were so stunned on the fact that she was Native American. Many people figured that she lived in a teepee and wore moccasins with a headdress. But in reality she's just like any other teenager. She lives in a home with running water and electricity, wear jeans, watched Finding Carter on MTV just like a regular teenager. Shanice is a teenager that still does hobbies that her ancestors used to do long ago like, do beadwork and weave. Shanice also wants to inform readers like me how Native Americans pass down many traditions to because if they don't then certain parts of there cultures can vanish. She also gets into how Native Americans lifestyle changed over the years. There are 5.2 million Native Americans in the U.S and Shanice lives on a reservation witched was proved from the U.S government.

Fish in a tree 3rd blog

Fish In a tree
I currently finished the book "Fish in a tree". I really enjoyed how it ended because it ended in a positive note. In the book I found out that Ally has dyslexia. From hearing this bad news it brought her self esteem down by a lot but by the help of Mr.Daniels she had the ability to practice reading and giving all her effort to be a better reader. Shay which is kinda the bully in the book still stayed the same. Shay still continues to call Albert,Keisha, and Ally rude names. Ally, Albert, and Shay manage to block Shay out of their lives and ignore things she says about them. Ally and her friends ended up having a strong relationship at the end of the book.

Aha moment
In the book Shay realizes about how rude and mean she has been to Albert, Keisha, and Ally. Ally and her crew which is Keisha and Albert start to treat shay  mean. Because shay has always been means to them they got tired of them not doing anything about it. They ended up all ignoring her. They all realized that by letting someone bring you down can make your self esteem worst. So they came up with a solution that blocked them from believing things Shay said but them. Its not till the middle of the book when Ally starts to realize that letting people call you names is just hurting them.

Fish in a tree second blog

I am close to the end of the book "Fish in A tree" so far Ally is beginning to not really focus on herself and what others think about her. Mr.Daniel, who is Ally's teacher has helped and worked with Ally about her self esteem and how she is different from many students at her school. Mr.Daniel tries to explain to Ally about how good of a student she is and how she has helped others who have been blocked out of society and in school because they are different. Ally helps others to realize that there in the world for a purpose and that they should be who they are.

AHA MOMENT: In the first few chapters of the book it explains how ally's trapped in a lonesome world and how she feels that she cant be herself because people judge her for how she is. After being in a class with Mr.Daniel's she notices how Mr.Daniel acts himself with other students and how he doesn't care how other students view's him. Ally notices how she should be more liker her teacher and not care what others say.
