Summary and Plot (Dead Is not an Option)

Dead is not an Option is about a girl named Daisy Giordano and she's getting ready to leave and remember her last moments of Nightshade High. But there hasn't come any acceptance letters to any colleges yet. Daisy is very worried about where she's gonna end up for school in the fall and most importantly if she is gonna be with her boyfriend Ryan. Daisy is also dealing with way more intense situations in her life. Nightshade has Vampires versus Shifters and at any moment things can get really tense. Things are starting to rise up between Vampires and shifters that they are canceling prom. Things start to settle at Daisy place because rose (Daisy's sister) are both dating vampires, and Daisy's other sister Poppy is dating a vampire. Daisy starts to find ways to make Nightshade a better school and for Vampires and Shifters to get along , and finally be in peace. Better watch out Shifters because the Vampires are hunting for blood.

There was a part in the book when Daisy was leaving the store when she came across a puddle of blood. Daisy looked around to see if there was someone hurt, when she heard a voice that said "Daisy?". Daisy immediately turned around and saw Elise Wilder. She was a vampire her self. Daisy turned her over and saw that a chunk of her neck was off. "Who did this to you?" Daisy asked".
"I don't remember" said Elise. Daisy called the ambulance and they came in a blink of an eye. Once Elise's brother Bane found about this he would want his revenge on who ever did this. Thats when the climax begins to fall. The Vampires does the unimaginable to find out who could've done this to his sister. I felt like I couldn't stop reading the book because every chapter you read you wanted to read more because you wanted to find out what happens next.

Assesment

Article 5- DONT BUY NIKE!(http://www.dailygazette.com/news/2013/may/10/0510_SGNold/)

The argument was that by purchasing from Nike we support the oppression of factory workers over sea. Nike productions are well-founded in Indonesia. Nike pays workers a minimum of $1.25 a day. Getting $1.25 a day isn't a lot to provide for Indonesian workers. With $1.25 a day workers, cant rent a small 8 by 8 foot one-room apartment, obtain drinking water, have transportation to work , and buy two meals. Nike employees are being treated unfairly. I was upset on the fact that the Indonesian workers weren't getting paid what they deserved, I buy a lot of Nike and I was just in shock that I didn't know what the employes were going through.Nike workers can improve on this situation but as customers we can learn about where our items came from and educate our selves.  We as customers can also demand that Nike and other sweat-shops treat workers with respect and equality.

The argument in the poem is that the workers in sweatshops are like machines. They are constantly doing the same thing over and over again. In the poem it states " My self is destroyed, I become a machine" I thought that that quote really stood out to me because it's like someone with no emotion.I couldn't imagine somebody with no feelings or with no thought. I personally think that reading a poem is better for me in many situations because I can picture what happens in the poem. Otherwise reading in article is more basic. The more I read the article the better understanding I got of it. On the other hand while I read the poem over and over again I started picturing the quotes in my head. The machines are so wildly noisy in the shop that I often forget who I am. When I read that I imagine an employee working non-stop.
