Fish In A tree Lynda Mullaly Hunt( 1st blog)
Summary
Because its the beginning of our last quarter of Heritage Middle School, I decided to read a brand new book that my teacher bought and its called "Fish In a Tree". The book is about a girl named Ally and how she is struggling in school because teachers always see her as a joke. Ally is a sixth grader but she doesn't think before she acts. Because Ally is known as a joke she doesn't have many friends. She struggles because she feels like no one likes her and she feels that everyone cant take her serious. Her dad is in the military so she lives with her brother and her mom.
Character Traits
Ally: Outgoing
On page 75 Ally gives half of her flowers to Keisha because Keisha (another student) flower petals started to fall off and Mrs.Moldoon lectures her and demands her to give the flowers up. Because Ally felt bad she decided to give half of her flowers to her. Ally and Keisha then where the only girls without flowers but they were the only girls that had smiles on their faces.
Albert: Forgiving
Albert is another main character in the book "Fish In A Tree". Albert is picked on a lot by his other peers. Shay and Jessica are kind of there own group but they enjoy picking on Albert. On page 92 Shay starts making fun Albert because Albert decided to cut his back shoe into flippers, and he wears the same clothes everyday, and because of that Shay and Jessica like to pick on him. Ally ask if he gets hurt by what the girls say and he explains to her how he doesn't care what other people think, he tells Ally that its not good to listen to those who underestimate you and how make fun of you for no reason. As Ally is listening she ends the sentence with "If I were to wish anything, it would probably be to be just to be like Albert".

Oprah Winfrey& Traits
I currently finished the book Oprah Winfrey. The book ends on how her Legacy was strong and how she impacted so many people. Oprah to me is a very courageous and strong woman. Oprah was selected 13 best awards. Oprah may be very very wealthy but she's not greedy with her money. She helps many people and provides for those who need it. According to the book on page 6 its states that "Oprah Winfrey traveled to Durban, South Africa, in 2002 to give thousand of children food, clothes, school supplies, and toys on behalf of her charity, the Oprah Winfrey Foundation." Oprah is a very helpful woman. She enjoys helping other and thats all that matters.
Traits
Oprah is a Leader. I say this because in the book "Oprah Winfrey" it states that she provided more than 1 million dollars in school supplies to eighteen thousand South African children in need. Many kids in South Africa look up to Oprah because she helped many kids. Many people look Oprah as a Leader because of all the great things she's done for them. They see that Oprah is wealthy and they recognize that she helps the poor and people who don't have much, so when kids see that they feel that anything is possible.

Oprah Winfrey
As a reader I decided to abandon "George Washington" because I felt that the book was too easy. I then decided to read about Oprah Winfrey. I chose her because I don't know anything about Oprah Winfrey. The first few chapters of the book talks about her early life.Oprah Winfrey was born January 29, 1954 in kosciusko Mississippi.Billionaire Oprah Winfrey is famous from her talk show "Oprah". The Oprah show was just Oprah talking to people internationally and talking About conflicts and major things that happen in his or hers life.I got interested in the book fast because it had more facts than pictures.
Genre
The genre of "Oprah Winfrey" is non-fiction and biography. As a thirteen year old girl I really enjoy reading drama books, intense- teen fiction. I remember as a kid I would always read biographies and autobiographies of simple people I knew growing up.But throughout the years I began to enjoy reading books that had drama and books that reminded myself of me.I would definitely read more nonfiction and biographies more often because you can really learn new things about someone or something you never knew about.

George Washington Traits
Summary
So far in the book its talking about the Revolution. In the book it talks about how George never saw black soldiers. In the book it states that "Some were freemen; others were slaves promised freedom in exchange for enlistment. George's first instinct was to bar blacks, free or slave. George needed all the soldiers he can get. I then move on to chapter 8 "A More Perfect Union". In chapter 8 it states that George Washington's mother was threatening him to move in with him. George was 51 when the war ended.
Traits
George Washington is a very calm person. I know this because in the book on chapter one "Growing up" it states that "George didn't really care for living under his mother's thumb, he spent more and more time visiting friends and relations". George grew up in a wealthy family. George was also very helpful. He liked to help others in need. George was also very unique. On page 17 it states that "George was a very handsome, well connected young man with reddish brown hair and blue-grey eyes and his height over 6 feet made him stand out. There wasn't many children that was over six feet so he was unique at the time.

George Washington Summary
Summary
I am currently reading the book George Washington by Lenny Hort. I chose this book because I enjoy learning about presidents and the events that occurred in their lives. George Washington was the first male president of the United States. The first chapter of the book talks about George Washington's life as a child. The book then transitions to his life as an adult and how he met the love of his life named Martha Dandridge Custis. On page 32 its states that "Martha was looking for a good stepfather for her two children and was also looking for a good manager for her large estate preferably in the same person." I never really understood how George met his wife but after reading that chapter I finally did. It may seem boring reading about George Washington but it really isn't. To me its not. Im reading this book and i'm being educated with facts about the first president that I never knew.
Genre
As a reader I know for a fact that the book "George Washington" is a Biography and is also non fiction. I know this because a book that is a biography is when an author writes about someones life. It is also non fiction because the book is based on facts, real events, and real people, its very similar to a Biography. I like many things about reading a biography like, learning new things about a certain person, having the ability to know more interesting things about someone. I don't read a lot of Biographies or Non-fictions, but I will be honest, I do like it. I usually like to read teen-fiction or realistic fiction but over time it starts to get a little boring reading the same type of genre books all the time. I would definitely read a Biography again.

Summary and Authors purpose
Summary//End of "Counting by 7's
I recently finished the book "Counting by 7's". I come to the end of the book and really enjoyed how it ended. "Life goes on". Those words are the last of counting by 7's. Just by reading "Life goes on" it explains more than you think. You may go through the worst times of your life, you may tend to have tragedies that you want to prevent but sometimes "If your lost, you might need to swim against the tide". Cherish every moment you have with your loved ones because you never know what types of situations can occur in a blink of an eye. Thats what Willow had to encounter. Reading Counting by 7's made me realize that nothing last forever. Theres times in your life when you will deal with tough situations, but you have to be strong and know that "Life goes on". With the help of Dell Duke, Mai,Quang-ha, and Pattie Willow was able to have support and focus on the present and future instead of the past. I personally would recommend this to anybody. It honestly touched me in a way a book has never had. Maybe it can do the same to yours.
Authors Purpose
I think that the book counting by 7's has two Authors Purposes. Inform and to Entertain. Inform because Willow teaches and explains many things throughout the book. In the book on page 377 Willow states " I think that at every stage of living , there are many people how matter in your world. "They are people who are inside you". "They are people you rely on". "They are people who change your daily life". From reading that I can infer as a reader that Willow is trying to prove something. Entertain because the book has happy moments, and sad moments. For example in the beginning of the book it gets straight to the point. Its on page 8 when everything starts to fall for Willow. "Theres been an accident involving your parents". "After whispers comes the news that the two people I love the most in the world are gone forever are now gone". I know as a reader that this is upsetting and sad. Reading this gave me the chills. Questions popped through my head. "How would I react to something like this?" "Who would support me?".

POV & Summary
Summary
I am close to finishing the book "Counting by 7's". The climax is finally arriving. Will Pattie take in Willow? Will Pattie Quang-Ha and her sister Thi Mai finally get a place of there own? It almost seems as if the book is slowly and slowly coming to an end without me realizing it. So far we come to realize that Quang-ha and her family are living in a garage. This is a bad thing because living in a garage is not safe. During the book Pattie let Willow stay in the garage. I also came to a part where Pattie has been saving up money, from that money I can infer that she wants to adopt Willow.
Point Of View
I think the point of view for "Counting by 7's" would be First person point of view, because the book has a lot of I, me or mine. I know this because in the beginning of the book it says "I don't tell anyone that what makes this work is wax." It has the word I so I know its first person point of view because it has the character kind of as the narrator. Willow would be the first person point of view because she always used I, me and mine. I would like to read Second person point of view because in books like that the author uses You, or your. I think that means its your self in the book because its saying you or your.
